Who we are
Summon (“we,” “us”) is a browser extension and website.
This policy covers the Summon Chrome extension and viasummon.com.
Your browsing: we never know what you viewed or where you went
What you type in search: we never see or store what you typed
Tabs, bookmarks, history, downloads, or recently closed tabs (titles, links, or file paths)
Which sites you open or switch to
The contents of the page you’re on
Screenshots, passwords, autofill, or your browser cookies
Other extensions you have installed
Your contacts or payment info
Precise device location
Exact result counts or exact time spent in the palette
Your name, email, or Google account
Anonymous data we capture
That you opened or closed the palette, and how (shortcut, toolbar, or popup)
Which palette category was open (Bookmarks, History, Settings, …)
Which kind of command you ran (“mute tab,” “new tab”), and which category it came from
Your theme and setting presets (e.g. dark mode, load 50 bookmarks)
Whether the search box had anything in it, whether you used a search shortcut (@, >, or “open ”), and roughly how many results appeared
Rough timing for how long the palette was open before you ran something or closed it
Clicks on the Summon website, including “Add to Chrome” / “Add to Brave” (or your browser) and other links, plus which Summon pages were viewed
Your OS and extension version, browser, and screen size
A rough location from IP (city, state/region, and country), not precise location
A random analytics ID for the extension, stored in the extension, separate from the website
A random analytics ID for the website, stored in this browser, separate from the extension
On the website only: which site referred the visitor (e.g. Product Hunt, X), not full page URLs from other sites they browsed
On the website only: clicks and interactions with Summon site buttons and links (to see what people use)
Session recordings on the Summon website or inside the Chrome extension
Autocapture inside the Chrome extension
Recordings of other websites you visit
We use
PostHog
to collect those signals. We can’t tell who you are from them.
We don’t sell your data.
The extension and website IDs are not linked. Using both does not merge you into one profile. You’d appear as two anonymous people in our analytics unless you send us both IDs for a deletion request.

Those providers may process data in the United States or other countries
Where required, we rely on safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses
How long we keep it
Analytics events: only as long as needed to understand usage and improve Summon, then deleted or aggregated
Local settings and analytics IDs: until you clear site/extension data or uninstall Summon
GDPR (EEA, UK, and similar)
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another place with similar rules,
Summon is the controller of the analytics described above.
Legal bases
Legitimate interests: measuring whether Summon works and which features people use, so we can maintain and improve the product
Consent: where local law requires consent for analytics or cookies on the website, we rely on that consent when we ask for it

We do not sell personal information
We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights
Categories collected (last 12 months)
Identifiers: separate random analytics IDs for the extension and for the website (not linked to each other)
Internet or electronic activity: product and site usage events described above
Geolocation: city, region, country from IP (not precise location)
We collect that information to operate, secure, and improve Summon.
We disclose it to service providers (such as PostHog and Vercel) only to provide those services.
California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing.
Because we do not sell or share personal information under California law, there is no sale/sharing opt-out to process.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Summon is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country)
We do not knowingly collect personal information from them
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
Continued use of Summon or the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Request deletion
The extension and the website use separate anonymous analytics IDs
(they can’t see each other’s storage). If you’ve used both, send both IDs so we can delete both.
